In a major move to improve crime control at the local level, the Lucknow Police introduced the "Eagle Mobile" initiative. The crime surveillance squads were established by police commissioner Amarendra Kumar Sengar with the primary goal of keeping an eye on offenders and compiling their records.
An "Eagle Mobile" team consisting of two constables or chief constables, outfitted with a two-wheeler vehicle and necessary surveillance equipment, will be sent out by each police station. These teams won't be given regular law enforcement responsibilities; their only responsibility will be to keep an eye on active or habitual offenders.
A list of history-sheeters, gang members, active criminals, and recently released prisoners will be given to each team, and their daily task will be to prepare at least 10 criminal reports and follow up with 20 people.
A specific WhatsApp group will be used to link all "Eagle Mobile" staff members in order to plan and exchange daily updates. Every day, a list of released inmates will be made public so that the teams may confirm their present residences. Through the appropriate SHOs, completed reports will be digitised, submitted to the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB), and uploaded to the Trinetra App.
