Lucknow's metro network is moving a step closer to expansion with fresh developments on the much-awaited Phase-1B project. The proposed Medical College Crossing station on the East-West Corridor is set to become one of the most significant stops on the route, accounting for more than half of the land requirement identified for five major stations.

According to official records, around 14,610 square metres of Nazul land has been earmarked for key stations on the corridor. Of this, the Medical College Crossing station alone is expected to require 7,864 square metres, making it the largest land allocation along the planned stretch.

The development is part of Lucknow Metro's 11.16-kilometre East-West Corridor, a project designed to improve connectivity between densely populated residential areas, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and commercial hubs. The proposed station's strategic location near major medical and educational centres is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters, patients, students, and healthcare workers.

Urban transport experts believe the East-West Corridor will play an important role in reducing traffic congestion on some of Lucknow's busiest roads while providing a faster and more sustainable mode of travel. As the city continues to grow, metro expansion remains a crucial part of long-term infrastructure planning.

The latest land allocation update signals steady progress for Phase-1B and reinforces the importance of the Medical College Crossing station within the corridor. Once completed, the project is expected to strengthen public transport access across central and eastern parts of Lucknow, making daily travel more convenient for residents.

With metro connectivity already transforming mobility in several parts of the city, the upcoming East-West Corridor is being closely watched as one of Lucknow's most important infrastructure projects.
