Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow is all set for a major infrastructure upgrade as part of Indian Railways’ continued push for modernization. The station, one of the busiest and most iconic in North India, is getting airport-style amenities, beginning with the construction of new, modern, and high-end toilet facilities on the platforms.
These newly built toilets will be air-conditioned, hygienic, and equipped with premium fittings—comparable to those found at airports and luxury transit hubs. However, passengers will need to pay a nominal fee to use these upgraded washrooms, as part of a broader initiative to maintain cleanliness and reduce misuse.
Apart from these upgraded toilets, other planned enhancements at Charbagh include improved signage, better seating arrangements, high-speed Wi-Fi, and digital display boards to assist travelers.
The makeover is a part of the Indian Railways’ broader mission to bring Tier-1 station facilities in line with global standards. With this transformation, Charbagh is on track to become not just a transit hub, but a modern, commuter-friendly space that matches the pace of a growing and ambitious city like Lucknow.
