The Kukrail river's revitalization efforts, which include reclaiming its riverbed, have been declared by the Uttar Pradesh government. A significant river development and waterfront along the lines of Ahmedabad's Sabarmati waterfront are proposed by the state government.
“The encroached Kukrail riverbed, where the demolition drive is underway, is spread over 1 lakh sq m (24.71 acres),” said LDA additional secretary Gyanendra Verma. The area is spread over two parts of Akbar Nagar with I and II divided by Faizabad road.
REBIRTH OF KUKRAIL RIVER
The Kukrail River, which was once reduced to a drain by unauthorised development, is currently seeing a rebirth. With plans to build Kukrail as the nation's first night safari destination and move the zoo there, the area is poised to grow into a major hub for ecotourism, boosting both the area's natural beauty and attraction to travellers.
The area's riverside is being developed through the active formulation of an action plan by representatives from multiple departments, such as the irrigation department, LMC, and LDA. The idea is to build scenic parks with adjacent adventure activities for tourists on both banks of the Kukrail River.
