The 10th Lucknow Book Fair (LBF) will give bibliophiles a chance to update their bookshelves and restock their inventory while promoting the concepts of sustainable living and environmental preservation.
At a press conference, LBF convenor Manoj Singh Chandel stated that this time, the book fair's theme is "Children's Books Mini Mahakumbh," and that the idea of using less or no plastic will be pushed during the event. The book expo will have over 80 book stands with 33 publishers, including Children's Book Trust, Gita Press, Bahujan Sahitya Mandal, and Bodhras Publication, spread across a 15,000 square foot, air-cooled, waterproof hangar.
Throughout the fair, a variety of cultural events, competitions, and activities for kids and young adults will be planned. This time, they are asking people to bring a cloth bag to keep the books they buy in order to reduce the use of plastic bags and to encourage recycling of waste material. Additionally, a Darbar-e-Khushi, a place to donate grains, will be set up.
Additionally, they are advocating for the necessity of having shoes, clothes, and other objects fixed so that they can be used again rather than being thrown away once they wear off. This will also contribute to a decrease in pollution.
The fair will also include a children's poetry meet. Additionally, on March 6, a chat show titled "Contribution of women in Art, Literature, and Society" will be held. This year, educators who spread knowledge about climate change and environmental preservation will receive a green teacher award.
When: 1st - 9th March.
Where: Ravindralaya ground in Charbagh.
