In an effort to preserve Uttar Pradesh's historical legacy, the Yogi Adityanath government has started to convert Butler Palace into a book cafe and cultural hub. The cafe will hold a number of events as part of this effort, such as workshops, exhibitions, and an art gallery.

Butler Palace has great historical significance and was first constructed in 1915 by Raja Mahmudabad in honour of Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, the deputy commissioner of Awadh at the time. The rejuvenation effort was started by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) in order to restore and repurpose it while maintaining its original construction. The LDA has established a specific team to oversee this public-private partnership (PPP) project.

The project schedule states that Butler Palace's development and restoration will be finished by March 2025. Under the guidance of professionals, the plan calls for site clearance, structural repairs, preservation of the external façade, basic wiring, and operational setup. Furthermore, measures will be taken to guarantee public involvement and increase knowledge on cultural preservation.

In addition to offering study materials, Butler Palace's book cafe will also serve snacks and drinks. The palace will hold a number of events to further strengthen its position as a centre of culture, with coaching institutes helping to run and advertise it. Additionally, the venue will be open for film screenings and exhibitions that highlight regional artists and historical accounts.

To showcase the palace's and the area's history, an art gallery will be established. A light and sound display that tells tales from Lucknow's past and folklore will also be arranged, providing guests with an immersive experience.
