In a world where success is often measured only in marks, some stories remind us that true achievement is built on courage, resilience, and an unbreakable spirit. One such story comes from Lucknow, where 19-year-old Sarah Moin has inspired an entire city with her remarkable journey. A student of Christ Church College, Sarah, who can not see, hear or speak, has topped the ISC Class 12 examinations with an outstanding 98.75%, emerging as the highest scorer among 258 students.
Her journey, however, goes far beyond academics. Diagnosed at a very young age with Sarcoidosis, Sarah gradually began experiencing challenges with vision, hearing, and speech. Yet, what could have slowed many down only strengthened her resolve. With quiet determination and immense inner strength, she continued to move forward, refusing to let circumstances define her potential.
Behind Sarah’s success stands a family that chose unwavering support every single day. Her father, Moin Ahmed, made the difficult decision to take voluntary retirement so he could dedicate his time fully to her care and education. He accompanied her to school daily, ensuring she never felt alone in her journey. Her mother, a government school teacher, nurtured her with patience and encouragement, creating a home filled with belief and positivity.
At school, Sarah found not just an institution, but a community that truly understood her needs. Christ Church College’s special education section, along with the dedicated efforts of her teacher Salman Ali Qazi, played a vital role in shaping her path. Learning was made accessible through innovative techniques and assistive technology. Her study material was converted into digital formats and read through touch using Braille-based devices, while lessons were explained through personalized one-on-one sessions. For exams, she used advanced tools that allowed her to read and respond independently, ensuring she could showcase her full potential.
Her teachers, deeply moved by her perseverance, lovingly call her “Helen Keller,” a reflection of her extraordinary strength and determination. And rightly so—because Sarah’s achievement is not just about scoring high marks, it is about rising above every barrier with grace and grit.
