KGMU is all set to begin robotic surgery in the next few days. Out of all the institutions in the state, its fee will be the lowest. The robotic surgical rate blueprint has been produced and is anticipated to be approved shortly. For this, medical training has also begun.
Open and laparoscopic surgery are currently available at KGMU, according to KGMU spokeswoman Dr. KK Singh. In January, 2 robots were acquired to give patients access to contemporary operating facilities. The process of determining the cost of delivering this service is nearing completion. The idea states that cancer surgery will cost Rs 15,000. General surgery will cost between five and ten thousand rupees. This will provide a lot of relief to the patients.
Compared to other medical facilities, KGMU will offer surgery at a reduced rate. Compared to government medical colleges, private hospitals are two to four times more expensive. Many people are consequently denied care because of this.
To teach the medics, experts from both domestic and foreign locations are travelling here. They are currently undergoing robotic surgery training. This comprises physicians from the departments of neurology, urology, surgery, and endocrine.
Typically, surgery takes two hours. On the other hand, the specialist's operation takes four to five hours while dealing with cancer patients. Advanced robotic surgery has been developed where doctors will have to control the robot in this scenario using the system. It takes less than an hour to complete this excellent operation.
This is a big step towards providing modern treatment to patients.
