A brand-new pedestrian bridge over the Gomti Riverfront is set to transform how residents and tourists experience the city. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has released designs for a modern bridge inspired by Ahmedabad’s iconic Atal Setu, aiming to enhance connectivity, scenic walks, and riverfront tourism.
The proposed bridge will be 180 metres long and 12 metres wide, with a total length of approximately 380 metres including ramps. It will feature landscaped pathways, viewing platforms, modern lighting, and accessibility features for pedestrians and cyclists. Officials say the bridge will not only serve as a practical crossing but also as a tourist attraction and iconic landmark for Lucknow.
Estimated at a cost of ₹64 crore, the bridge project is expected to begin construction soon after final approvals. LDA officials emphasise that it will significantly improve foot traffic along the riverfront, connect key recreational areas, and promote evening strolls, family outings, and leisure activities for locals and visitors alike.
With this bridge, Lucknow’s riverfront development takes a major step forward, combining modern infrastructure with urban aesthetics, while positioning the city as a more walkable, scenic, and tourist-friendly destination.
