For Lucknow residents planning a trip to Ayodhya, the journey to the holy city is set to become even more memorable. Ayodhya has completed a grand entrance gate complex on the Lucknow-Ayodhya Highway, creating a new landmark that will greet visitors as they arrive in one of India's most important pilgrimage destinations.
Developed by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department at a cost of ₹20.20 crore, the project is located near Firozpur village on the Ayodhya-Lucknow route. The complex features two large entrance gates designed to reflect Ayodhya’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage while adding a modern touch to the city’s evolving skyline.
The development goes beyond aesthetics. The project includes upgraded roads, organised parking areas, drainage and sewer systems, irrigation infrastructure, rainwater harvesting facilities, firefighting systems, and landscaped green spaces. These improvements are expected to make travel and access more convenient for the growing number of visitors arriving from Lucknow and across Uttar Pradesh.
Built by UP Projects Corporation Limited, the gateway complex was completed ahead of schedule after construction began in November 2023. Authorities are now completing final formalities before the site becomes fully operational.
With Ayodhya continuing to attract record numbers of pilgrims and tourists, the new entrance complex is expected to provide a grand first impression while supporting the city's transformation into a world-class religious and cultural tourism destination. For Lucknow residents looking for a quick spiritual getaway, there is now one more reason to plan a visit.
