Lucknow is set to see a new push towards women's employment and technology skills, with FICCI FLO Lucknow announcing a programme to train 100 women as drone pilots in collaboration with Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh.

The initiative was announced during an interaction organised by FICCI FLO with the MLA. The programme aims to help women gain skills in drone technology and explore emerging opportunities in the growing drone economy, including employment and entrepreneurship.

The collaboration is part of a broader focus on ensuring that skill development translates into financial independence and income opportunities for women. Singh said the goal should extend beyond training to helping women turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods and enterprises.

The MLA also highlighted initiatives already undertaken in his constituency. These include 170 Tara Shakti Kendras, where more than 2,000 sewing machines have been provided to support women's self-employment.

The wider efforts also include educational and sports support for girls, with Singh stating that more than 1,000 meritorious girls have received resources such as laptops, computers and bicycles, while sports facilities and equipment have been provided to youth clubs.

With the new drone pilot programme, Lucknow's women will get an opportunity to enter a new-age technology sector that is increasingly finding applications across agriculture, surveying, infrastructure and other industries.
