In a significant step toward bolstering road infrastructure and regional connectivity, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the construction of the Lucknow Link Expressway, a 49-km-long, 6-lane greenfield corridor that will bridge two of the state’s major expressways—Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Purvanchal Expressway.
The newly sanctioned project, to be developed at an estimated cost of ₹4,776 crores, will serve as a seamless high-speed connector between central and eastern UP. The expressway will begin from Mohan (near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway) and traverse through Mohanlalganj before merging with the Purvanchal Expressway.
This greenfield expressway is expected to drastically reduce travel time and congestion for vehicles that currently need to pass through city routes to switch between the two corridors.
This expressway will not only streamline transit between western and eastern UP but also enhance connectivity to several industrial zones and development corridors. It will support the logistics ecosystem, reduce vehicular pressure on Lucknow city roads, and spur real estate and economic activity in peri-urban zones along the alignment.
Moreover, the new link will serve as a strategic bypass, improving travel time for long-distance freight and passenger vehicles traveling between cities like Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Ghazipur.
In essence, the Lucknow Link Expressway promises faster connectivity, enhanced logistics efficiency, and economic transformation across regions it touches—ushering in a new chapter of integrated transport development in Uttar Pradesh.
