In response to a long-standing demand from residents of high-rise apartments in Gomti Nagar Extension, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has begun construction of a modern multipurpose community centre in the rapidly growing area.

The project was inaugurated on Saturday with a traditional bhoomi pujan ceremony conducted by BKT MLA Yogesh Shukla. According to LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, the three-storey facility will be built on a 2,900-square-metre plot near Saraswati Apartment.

Residents of societies such as River View Apartments and neighbouring complexes have long sought a dedicated venue for weddings, social gatherings, cultural programmes and community activities. Until now, families were forced to book halls outside the locality, often at higher costs and with logistical hassles.

“The community hub will fulfil a critical need for local residents,” said the LDA spokesperson. “It will provide modern amenities for celebrations, public meetings, arts and cultural events, strengthening community bonds.”

The decision to build the centre comes amid broader infrastructure growth in Gomti Nagar Extension — a locality that has seen significant housing, commercial and civic projects in recent years. The area, noted for its strategic connectivity and planned development, has attracted major residential and mixed-use projects, drawing new families and professionals to the neighbourhood.

Located close to key road links like Shaheed Path and surrounded by schools, healthcare facilities and retail centres, Gomti Nagar Extension has increasingly become a preferred address for Lucknow residents seeking modern urban living with easy access to city amenities.

With construction now underway, residents can expect the community hub to become a focal point for social life in the area in the months ahead as the LDA progresses its vision of comprehensive neighbourhood development.
