HISTORY
The Amir-ud-Daula Library first opened to the public (but only for students) in 1887. Since then, it has moved to several places and changed names. It was originally a part of the State Museum of Lucknow. Later, in 1907, it was moved to Lal Baradari, and in 1910, it was moved to Chota Chattar Manzil. Following this, it was converted into a public library, which Harcourt Butler opened in 1921. The United Provinces government received the memorial edifice as a gift from the Awadh Taluqdars.
DIGITAL LIBRARY
Furthermore, the Amir-ud-Daula Public Library has just lately begun digitising its manuscripts in an attempt to prevent the oldest ones from becoming dust. About 24,000 books are now accessible online thanks to the ongoing digitization project that began in 2019. You can check it out here.
