Lucknow is hosting the 18th BRICS Academic Forum from August 23 to 25, bringing leading scholars, policymakers, researchers, think-tank representatives and government officials from BRICS countries to the city. The forum is being held at the University of Lucknow as part of India’s BRICS Presidency.

Organised by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in partnership with the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and the University of Lucknow, the forum is centred on the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” Discussions are focusing on global governance reform, emerging technologies and innovation, sustainable development and stronger cooperation among BRICS nations.

For Lucknow, the international forum adds another significant global policy event to the city’s calendar. The BRICS Academic Forum serves as a Track II platform, allowing academics and experts to exchange ideas and develop policy-oriented recommendations for BRICS cooperation.

The event follows the BRICS National Statistical Offices Meeting, which was also held in Lucknow on August 3–4 and focused on data ecosystems and the role of artificial intelligence. Together, the events underline Lucknow’s growing role as a venue for important national and international policy discussions.
