Lucknow’s luxury hospitality scene is getting a significant new addition. In a first, Taj Palace Lucknow, the latest luxury property from Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), brings the Taj Palace brand to the City of Nawabs for the first time—and is only the second Taj Palace in India, after Taj Palace, New Delhi.
But the hotel’s biggest draw may be the story behind its design.
Instead of relying heavily on the city’s familiar Nawabi aesthetic, Taj Palace Lucknow looks towards the natural landscape that once shaped Gomti Nagar. The hotel’s interiors draw inspiration from the “Lost Forest of Gomti Nagar,” incorporating woodland elements, botanical details, rivers and the Palash, Uttar Pradesh’s state flower.
The result is a contemporary interpretation of Lucknow—one that connects the city’s past with its rapidly changing present.
The hotel also introduces several notable dining experiences. House of Ming brings Taj’s established Chinese dining concept to Lucknow, while the iconic Machan offers all-day dining in a woodland-inspired setting.
For relaxed coffee, tea and gourmet bites, Bistrot takes over the casual dining space. Meanwhile, Shadow & Oak is designed as an intimate cocktail and whisky destination, with a collection of more than 80 whisky labels, including rare expressions from The Macallan.
The hotel’s rooftop, meanwhile, features a temperature-controlled infinity pool, creating a new setting for city views and sundowner evenings.
With 163 rooms and 18 suites, Taj Palace Lucknow offers accommodation ranging from spacious entry-level rooms to a 2,200-square-foot Presidential Suite with two bedrooms, a private pool and deck. Select rooms also feature private outdoor Jacuzzis, while resident guests can access dedicated butler services.
The property also caters to weddings, corporate gatherings and private celebrations. Its ballroom features dramatic Palash-inspired interiors, while multiple banquet, pre-function, breakout and private dining spaces offer flexibility for different occasions.
Adding to its hospitality offerings are J Wellness Circle, Lucknow’s first at a Taj property, and The Chambers, IHCL’s private business and social club.
As a new luxury destination in Lucknow, what makes Taj Palace Lucknow stand out is its approach to luxury. Rather than recreating the city’s heritage, the hotel takes inspiration from a lesser-seen chapter of Lucknow’s story and transforms it into a contemporary hospitality experience.
For residents and visitors, it brings together fine dining, wellness, celebrations, business and leisure under one roof—marking a new addition to Lucknow’s evolving luxury landscape.
