DM Aligarh Vishak G Iyer was moved to Lucknow as part of a significant administrative reorganisation in the state, while DM Lucknow Surya Pal Gangwar was elevated to the position of chief minister's secretary. In a late-night shuffle, 15 districts' DMs were replaced.

After demonstrating his abilities in crucial districts such as Kanpur and Aligarh, Vishakh ji will now have to tackle the task of enhancing Lucknow's peace and order situation and accelerating development initiatives.

Vishak G Iyer, an IAS officer from the 2011 batch, is perceived as close to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Because of his effective administrative experience in difficult regions and his energetic working style, he has been given this task.

Born in Idukki, Kerala, Iyer holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from MG University College of Engineering, Thodupuzha. By earning a Master of Arts in Public Policy from the Said Business School at the University of Oxford, he further strengthened his academic credentials.

Iyer has held a number of important roles in Uttar Pradesh over his career. He has held the positions of Chief Development Officer at Kanpur City, Varanasi, and Meerut. Hamirpur, Bhadohi, Chitrakoot, and Aligarh are among the districts he has served in as District Magistrate and Collector. He has also held the position of Special Secretary to the Chief Minister.

Iyer expressed excitement for his new position in the state capital and reaffirmed his dedication to promoting interdepartmental cooperation and expediting existing development initiatives. He also made it clear that he intended to deal with the traffic problems and other important concerns that the people of Lucknow are facing.

It is expected that Vishak G. Iyer's selection as Lucknow's District Magistrate will infuse the city's administration with a new outlook that emphasises growth and efficient governance.
