Indian Railways (IR) has made the decision to gradually introduce Namo Bharat Rapid Rail throughout its extensive network. Originally called Vande Metro, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail was created to offer top-notch rail service between short-distance locations. In the realm of intercity travel, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail has established a new benchmark.

As of now, there are two Namo Bharat Rapid Rail trains in service. These are Jaynagar to Patna and Ahmedabad to Bhuj. On the Varanasi and Lucknow route, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail—the "mini" counterpart of the Vande Bharat Express train—will be launched. The Varanasi to Lucknow Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will cover a distance of 324 km in less than 3 hours.

Ayodhya Dham will be the route taken by the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail from Varanasi to Lucknow. Major stations along the route, including Jaunpur Junction, Shahganj Junction, Akbarpur, Ayodhya Dham Junction, Ayodhya Cantt, and Barabanki Junction, would be the stops for the Varanasi-Lucknow Namo Bharat Rapid Rail.
