Under CM Yogi Adityanath's direction, a significant advancement has been made in the empowerment of women. Working women would receive significant relief on Diwali under the fifth phase of Mission Shakti.

By October, Uttar Pradesh will have 18 new Sakhi Niwas hostels. This programme, which is a component of Mission Shakti 5.0, guarantees working women in key cities like Varanasi and Lucknow safe and inexpensive accommodation.

This project, operated by the state's Women and Child Development Department, provides working women with a safe place to reside near their workplaces. According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this action will not only guarantee women's protection but also provide stability and harmony into their lives. Apart from this, 10 Shramik Mahila Hostels already functioning have also provided a source of solace for women.

In the state, 18 new Sakhi Niwas have been built and will open for business by the end of October 2024. Of these, the central government has provided full financial support for the construction of four in Lucknow and four in Noida, while the Uttar Pradesh government has constructed the remaining ten Sakhi Niwas with 60 percent financial help from the centre. Each of these Sakhi Niwas would have a capacity of 50 women. Notably, if working women are married, they can also keep their daughter up to 18 years of age and boy up to 12 years of age with them.

This Diwali is surely going to be a LIT one!
