The renowned Indira Gandhi Planetarium will soon open in a new version. The planetarium has been closed since March 2023. Previously, the planetarium could only show one movie at a time, but after the upgrades, it will be able to show many films utilising cutting-edge digital 3D/2D 8K technology.

A nano-seam dome has been installed in place of the overlapping seam dome as part of the renovations. The public will occasionally receive fresh stuff from this, including real-world space photos, sky mapping, and observations. Additionally, they are organising unique shows for school children, which will be followed by an astronomy lesson. On the first and ground floors, there will be some space scientific models too.

The entire renovation was finished for ₹50 crore. After it opens to the public, visitors can purchase tickets both online and in person at the planetarium's official website. The new planetarium program can show the night sky from anywhere, including views of celestial bodies from the past and from 10,000 years into the future. Additionally, presentations pertaining to various fields of science and the arts as well as space science and astronomy can be shown using the updated technology.

Robots, black holes, ancient civilisations, dinosaur travel, the universe's history, and the creation of atoms are some of the shows that are available to the general public. Additionally, the planetarium will offer a variety of content for research.
