Lucknow Launches Double-Decker E- Buses In Navratri!

To accommodate the large number of people during Navratri, the Uttar Pradesh government has declared the introduction of electric double-decker buses in Lucknow. It is an important measure to improve public transportation and minimise pollution.

The Lucknow transport minister, Daya Shankar Singh, stated in an interview that the bidding procedure for over 100 buses—including double-decker vehicles with a maximum capacity of 65 passengers each—has already been finished. 

This project intends to increase tourism in Lucknow in addition to daily commuting. With future ambitions to expand the service to other regions throughout Uttar Pradesh, the buses will initially run within the city.

The purpose of these double-decker buses is to provide visitors with an easy and entertaining way to see Lucknow's most famous sites. Travellers can enjoy panoramic views of the city's most well-known landmarks from the upper deck, where they can explore attractions like Bhool Bhulaiya, Residency, and the Lucknow Zoo, all for the price of a single ticket. Singh stressed that both residents and tourists will find Lucknow's sightseeing more accessible and pleasurable as a result of this effort.

The intention is to promote ease and sustainability while making electric buses a compelling choice for all. The administration of Lucknow hopes to lower carbon emissions and promote a cleaner, more environmentally friendly transport system by adopting electric buses. Over 2,000 venues, including petrol stations and bus depots, are building a strong charging infrastructure to support this program.

Every day from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the buses will operate, providing locals and visitors with an easy and sustainable means of getting throughout the city.
