With an eye on enhancing the long-term passenger experience, Indian Railways is modernising railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. In order to guarantee comfort, accessibility, and sustainable development, the plan is made to continuously improve station amenities.
The goal of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is to create station master plans and carry them out gradually. This strategy focuses on a number of station improvement elements, including enhanced waiting areas, improved restrooms, increased access, and amenities like escalators and lifts. Free Wi-Fi, 'One Station One Product' kiosks that promote local goods, enhanced passenger information systems, executive lounges, and business conference spaces are additional improvements.
Better landscaping, environmental solutions, and station interaction with the city's two sides are also highlighted in the plan. Additionally proposed are amenities for Divyangjans (those with disabilities), eco-friendly practices, and cutting-edge technologies including ballastless tracks. These stations will eventually function as city centres, enhancing urban areas.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 1,337 stations have been selected so far for development. Of them, 157 are in Uttar Pradesh and 98 are in Bihar.
