IIT Delhi Professor Appointed As Director Of IIM Lucknow!

In a noteworthy move, the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) has named Professor Manmohan Prasad Gupta from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) as its new director. This is a remarkable example of a professor from IIT running a top IIM.

He is anticipated to take over as Director-in-Charge on April 23, 2025, replacing Prof. Archana Shukla, who has held the position since April 4, 2024.

Who is Professor Manmohan Prasad Gupta?

Professor Gupta is a renowned professor at IIT Delhi's Department of Management Studies. Harcourt Butler Technical University (previously Harcourt Butler Technological Institute), Kanpur, is where he obtained his B.Tech. He then graduated from IIT Delhi with an M.Tech in 1985 and a Ph.D. in 1990.

Professor Gupta started his academic career at IIT Roorkee, where he worked as an assistant professor from 1996 to 1997 and as a lecturer from 1990 to 1996. He became an Assistant Professor at IIT Delhi in 1997 and has been there ever since. In 2017, he received a promotion to Professor and was placed on the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) scale. He is currently a professor at IIT Delhi, where he holds the Modi Foundation Chair.

His academic work has made a significant contribution to India's "Cyber Security Policy," especially to the government's "Digital India" and "Smart City" projects, to which he has been actively involved. Additionally, he participates in a number of Central and State Government policy-making bodies pertaining to information and communication technology (ICT).

It is expected that Prof. Gupta's appointment will enhance IIM Lucknow's academic excellence and promote multidisciplinary collaboration by bringing insightful leadership to the institution.
