What do you imagine when you think of mountains? Physical strength, training, and hardships, right? But Somya’s journey goes far beyond that. Born and raised in Lucknow, she has lived with a congenital heart disease and has had two open‐heart surgeries. Yet, she didn’t let that define her limits. Instead, she set her sights on scaling Ama Dablam—a 6,812-metre peak in Nepal, known for being among the most technical climbs in the Himalayas.

While the climb started with an 8-member team with sherpas, only 4, including Somya, made it to the top. Defying all odds, Somya completed this 27-day expedition in just 16 days! And with that, this young lady, who's had not one but two open heart surgeries, becomes the third Indian woman to scale Ama Dablam!

For all of us young dreamers, Somya’s story is proof that circumstances aren’t destiny. Whether you're recovering from a health setback, chasing a career change, or simply trying to find your path—what matters is courage, consistency, and will. In a city where many of us juggle comfort with aspiration, Somya’s climb becomes a metaphor: that even from the plains, you can reach the peaks.

Next time you hesitate on taking a new step—starting a fitness goal, taking up a hobby, signing up for a course—remember: Somya climbed a mountain. From Lucknow. With a heart condition.
Let that encourage you. Let her mountain moment become your first step upward.
