An eight-day All India Contemporary Sculpture Camp known as Shail Utsav began at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), where ten sculptors from various parts of the country are developing their artwork.

The camp includes sculptors Girish Pandey, Ajay Kumar, Awadhesh Kumar, and Mukesh Verma from Lucknow, Shailesh Mohan Ojha, Santo Kumar Choubey, and Rajesh Kumar from New Delhi, Pankaj Kumar (Patna), Avni Patel (Surat), Nidhi Sabhaya (Ahmedabad), and six carvers from Rajasthan.

"Shail-Utsav" refers to a festival of stone artefacts. Their goal is to bring the classic and contemporary art of sculpture closer to the general public. The "Shail Utsav" eight-day All India Sculptor Camp was held in the capital from October 14 to 21, 2024, with the support of the Lucknow Development Authority and under the combined patronage of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning. Senior sculptor Pandey Rajivnayan, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Performing Arts at Dr Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, formally inaugurated the camp.

This camp contributes significantly to Lucknow's attractiveness and will also serve as a popular destination for art enthusiasts. All of the art works created in the camp will be original and creative expressions of modern artists' ideas, which the artists will give concrete form to through stone.
