Five cutting-edge seed parks will be established in Uttar Pradesh, one in each of the state's five "agro-economic zones." According to State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, the state Cabinet adopted a proposal in this regard. In recognition of his contributions to agriculture, it was also agreed to name these parks after former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. The first of these parks will be built in Lucknow, Shahi said.

He informed reporters that the first of these parks would be constructed in the Attari neighbourhood of Lucknow on 130 acres for an investment of Rs 266 crore. "This will have multiple facilities to improve seed production, processing, storage, speed breeding, and hybrid research," he explained. According to the minister, the project will completely transform the state's seed industry.

Following Lucknow, one each would be created in Bundelkhand, the Terai region, the Central zone, and western Uttar Pradesh. The minister also disclosed that these parks would be constructed through a public-private collaboration, with seed firms being provided property on a 30-year lease.

By lowering UP's reliance on other states for seeds and offering farmers high-quality inputs at competitive prices, the initiative hopes to improve farm incomes and the rural economy.
