Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has launched a major sanitation and beautification initiative to convert areas commonly used for open urination into clean, thoughtfully designed “Neki Ki Deewaar” spaces.
Under the ambit of the Swachh Toilet Abhiyan and the newly introduced Transforming Yellow Spot Campaign, the project focuses on eliminating foul-smelling corners and replacing them with visually appealing, community-centric walls. These revamped spots will also feature directions to the nearest public toilets, ensuring residents have easy access to proper sanitation facilities.
The action plan was finalised during a review meeting chaired by Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, where officials identified key hotspots across the city. Under this initiative, LMC teams will clean, disinfect, repaint and beautify these neglected patches, turning them into selfie-friendly zones or kindness walls.
The campaign is expected to significantly improve hygiene levels, discourage public urination, and uplift the city’s visual appeal. By transforming problem areas into positive community assets, Lucknow aims to promote responsible behaviour and strengthen its commitment to a cleaner, healthier urban environment.
