The state capital will have a world-class and cutting-edge international exhibition and convention complex to host national and international events. According to sources, it will have a capacity of 10,000 people and will take up 32 acres of land at the site where the Defence Expo-2020 was held in Vrindavan Yojana.
It is one of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's dream projects, and it will be carried out over the next two years in collaboration with the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and the Housing Board.
CM Adityanath insisted that the convention centre be structured in such a way that all activities, cultural, political, religious, government, and musical, could be organised. He directed officials to construct the centre in accordance with Indian tradition, and to include rainwater collection facilities. The convention centre will include numerous auditoriums, a food court, a large parking lot, a VIP lounge, panch vatika, and the latest firefighting equipment, among other things.
The proposed centre will host international-level exhibitions and feature an open-air theatre. While space will be set aside for the hotel business near the site, the conference centre will also feature ODOP items, and visitors will be able to enjoy traditional cuisine, classical and folk music.
