Get ready to see Lucknow shine like never before this Dev Deepawali! On November 5, the city will be aglow with the warm light of over 2.5 lakh earthen lamps, turning the night into a breathtaking celebration of faith and festivity.
According to Mahant Devyagiri of Mankameshwar Temple, a grand 'maha aarti' will be held on the banks of the Gomti, followed by a series of cultural performances and devotional events.
The three-day celebration beginning today, features a range of activities, including rangoli and vedi decoration contests for women and girl students. Mahant Devyagiri has also urged citizens to help keep the Gomti clean and pollution-free as Lucknow prepares to shine bright with faith, festivity, and thousands of glowing diyas.
The origin of Dev Deepawali stems to mark the celebration of Lord Shiva’s victory over the demon Tripurasur. It is said, the gods themselves descend to earth to light lamps in celebration of good triumphing over evil. Traditionally celebrated in Varanasi, Dev Deepawali has now become a cherished occasion across Uttar Pradesh - and this year, Lucknow is set to celebrate it with unmatched grandeur and spirit.
