Bharat Taxi Launches In Lucknow: 0 Commission Model For Drivers

After Ola, Uber, Rapido and others, Lucknow has recently gotten a new mobility update! Bharat Taxi officially began operations in the city on Wednesday, September 23, alongside its launch in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur and Prayagraj. The cooperative-led platform is aimed at bringing taxi, bike and three-wheeler drivers onto a zero-commission model.

For drivers, one of the key announcements is that registered taxi, two-wheeler and three-wheeler drivers can join Bharat Taxi without paying a commission on rides. The Uttar Pradesh government has also announced ₹5 lakh in social security cover for drivers joining the platform.

The Lucknow rollout also comes with partnerships involving Lucknow Airport, Lucknow Metro and Lucknow Police, with MoUs signed to support the platform's operations in the city. Bharat Taxi follows a cooperative model in which drivers, or Saarthis, are intended to have a stake in the service.

For Lucknow commuters, the launch adds another option for getting around the city, while the platform's focus on zero commission and driver participation makes its rollout worth watching as it expands.
