
Lucknow is a city known for its rich heritage and tradition. Not just this, the city has an immense love for sports and has given many prolific sportspersons to the country. Now, Lucknow is all set to host its first International Championship of Handball for the first time and it is going to be a remarkable spectacle.
The Uttar Pradesh Handball Association is all geared up to organize the International Championship of Handball in Lucknow from January 3, 2025 to January 7, 2025 at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Hall at the KD Singh Babu Stadium.
This championship – IHF Trophy Men’s Youth and Junior (Continental Phase – Asia) will happen in Lucknow with four countries including India taking part in it. The unveiling of the trophies of the championship took place last week and Mrs. Alka Das, President, UP Handball Association said that teams from Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and India will participate in both youth and junior categories.

The format of the championship is as follows:
·There will be 6-6 league matches in both categories followed by semi-finals, finals and bronze medal matches.
·Four matches per day will be played in the tournament from January 3rd -5th. Semi-finals will take place on January 6 and finals of January 7.
·India will play its first match in the youth category on January 3 against Uzbekistan.
