Uttar Pradesh has added another global feather to its cap! The state has been honoured with the ‘Best Spiritual Tourism Destination’ award at the Seven Stars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards 2025, held in Lisbon, Portugal. This international recognition celebrates Uttar Pradesh’s growing prominence as the spiritual heart of India, blending ancient heritage with modern tourism excellence.
The Seven Stars Awards, often dubbed the “Oscars of Luxury,” honour excellence across the world’s most exclusive destinations, hotels, resorts, and lifestyle brands. Uttar Pradesh’s recognition in the spiritual tourism category marks a defining moment, highlighting how the state has successfully elevated its sacred heritage into a globally admired tourism experience.
Home to some of India’s most sacred cities, Uttar Pradesh holds a timeless connection with faith, philosophy, and pilgrimage. Cities like Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Vrindavan, Prayagraj, and Chitrakoot form the backbone of India’s spiritual geography.
Events like Deepotsav in Ayodhya, Dev Deepawali in Varanasi, Barsana’s Lathmar Holi, and the Magh Mela in Prayagraj have become internationally recognised celebrations, attracting millions of visitors each year. These festivals are now marketed as part of Uttar Pradesh’s “Brand Spiritual India” campaign.
Winning the Best Spiritual Tourism Destination Award is expected to significantly enhance Uttar Pradesh’s image in the international tourism market. It will likely encourage foreign tourists, investors, and tour operators to explore new opportunities in the state’s expanding hospitality sector.
