September 2, 2024 proved to be a historic occasion for football at Lucknow’s KD Singh Babu Stadium as multiple announcements were made by CM Yogi Adityanath to boost the sport in the state.

The two greatest Indian football rivals, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal FC played a nail biting match on the fantastic pitch post which the CM assured that the government would do everything to boost football in the state.

In the interesting Chief Minister’s Cup charity derby match played between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal FC, Mohun Bagan emerged victorious on penalties. The match kept everyone on the edge of their seats till the end. Finally, in the penalty shootout, Mohun Bagan SG converted three of their kicks and East Bengal FC’s efforts couldn’t help them win this one.

Announcements were made regarding building 18 football stadiums across 18 commissariats in Uttar Pradesh. To further the game even more and develop everyone’s interest in it, 827 football ground in all blocks have been promised too. Adequate football facilities and hosting of more tournaments was also ensured.
