Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is gearing up for a significant operational change starting July 16, as its runway will now be functional for 20 hours daily, up from the previous 18-hour schedule. This development comes as part of an ongoing infrastructure upgrade at the airport, aiming to improve capacity and passenger experience.
At the moment, the airport is under construction every day from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. However, with recarpeting now in its final stages and a significant portion of the parallel taxiway completed, the closure period has been reduced. From July 16 to August 15, the runway will now only be closed from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, effectively opening the window for 20 hours of daily operations.
This extended window will allow more flights to be scheduled, ease congestion, and ensure smoother connectivity to key cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. However, this shift also means many flights will undergo rescheduling, particularly those that were previously timed around or during the closure hours. Airlines are currently adjusting their schedules, and passengers are being informed via SMS, email, and app notifications.
With the new runway schedule, Lucknow flyers can expect more flexibility, improved flight availability, and potentially smoother travel experiences. Just make sure to double-check your itinerary if you're flying after July 16!
