Kriti Sawhney

Bada Mangal, also called Budhwa Mangal, is a string of Tuesdays that occur in the Hindu calendar month of Jyeshtha, which is essentially May or June in the Gregorian calendar. Four to five Tuesdays are dedicated to the Bada Mangal, which is regarded as a very pure and potent time to pray to Lord Hanuman and seek his blessings.

CELEBRATION OF BADA MANGAL!

Bada Mangal is celebrated at every Hanuman temple in Lucknow. For believers, however, the centre of attention is the Hanuman Temple in Aliganj, the site of the alleged origin of this ceremony. Large bhandaras are also set up by devotees all around the city, from which they serve water and prasad to everyone. The bhandaras provide everyone with delicious prasad, including chola-chawal, halwa-puri, kachori-aloo, jalebi-khasta, kadhi-chawal, and juice.

HISTORY OF BADA MANGAL!

This festival's origins can be found in the Treta Yuga, when Lord Hanuman and Lord Rama first met on a Tuesday during the month of Jyeshtha. Tuesdays in this month are particularly good for Hanuman worship because of this historic gathering, which is revered.

A Muslim ruler and Nawab of Lucknow is credited for creating Bada Mangal, also known as Budhwa Mangal. According to sources, their son recovered after they prayed to Lord Hanuman, it is thought that Nawab Wajid Ali Shah and his wife became followers of the deity.

There is no set time for Puja or ceremonies on Budhwa Mangal, and people begin praying to Lord Hanuman in the Brahma Muhurat. They can also remember him whenever they want or are in the vicinity of the Hanuman temple.

This year it is going to be from 13th May till 10th June.
