Lucknow residents will soon have a new place to play and stay active as the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) plans a mini sports arena near the Gwari Flyover in Gomtinagar. The project aims to promote outdoor sports and physical activity in the rapidly growing neighbourhood.
Estimated at around ₹8 crore, this state-of-the-art sports arena will be built on a section of the green belt near Sahara and developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Spanning roughly 20,000 square metres (about 5 acres), the facility will offer courts for football, pickleball, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and tennis.
In addition to multi-sport courts, the venue will include spaces for yoga, a small green park, an open skating rink, and a basic food zone for players and visitors. To improve convenience, planners have proposed parking facilities and multiple toilet blocks spaced across the site.
The design draws inspiration from the popular Janeshwar Mishra Park but will be tailored to serve the local community of Gomtinagar and Gomtinagar Extension. With good connectivity to the rest of the city, the mini sports arena is expected to offer residents a new destination for recreation and fitness.
Officials are finalising the Detailed Project Report (DPR), which is expected to be completed soon.
