The Rashtra Prerna Sthal—Lucknow’s new national memorial and cultural landmark—will host the state’s flagship Uttar Pradesh Day (UP Diwas) celebrations from January 24 to 26, 2026. Marking the first major event at the site since its inauguration, this three-day observance is expected to draw participants and visitors from across the state, other Indian states, and even international communities where people from Uttar Pradesh reside.

A Fitting Venue for UP Day

Located in the Basant Kunj area of Lucknow and spread over 65 acres, the Rashtra Prerna Sthal was inaugurated in December 2025 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a tribute to the leadership and ideals of national figures like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. The complex includes 65-foot bronze statues, a lotus-shaped digital museum, large gathering grounds, and modern amenities designed to serve as both educational and inspirational spaces.

Celebrations Across the State and Beyond

The Uttar Pradesh Day festivities will feature:

  • Cultural performances rooted in the state’s rich heritage, including music, dance, and theatre reflecting themes such as Vande Mataram and selections from Anand Math.

  • Competitions in arts and culture at the block, district, and divisional levels, culminating in flagship presentations in Lucknow.

  • Honours and awards for notable individuals from Uttar Pradesh—entrepreneurs, doctors, farmers, scientists, women achievers, artists and others—under initiatives like the UP Gaurav Samman.

  • Showcases of Uttar Pradesh’s heritage products, including GI-tagged items and One District, One Product (ODOP) exhibits that spotlight local craftsmanship and cuisine.

Promoting Culture, Pride and Unity

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed preparations to ensure that the celebrations reflect the diversity and dynamism of Uttar Pradesh’s cultural landscape. Institutions such as Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya and the Sangeet Natak Akademi will play key roles in coordinating performances and engaging artists.

The choice of Rashtra Prerna Sthal as the principal venue underscores Lucknow’s emerging role as a hub of state pride and cultural expression, complementing the city’s historic identity with contemporary celebrations of achievement and heritage.
